Brandie and her ladies got ready at a friends home – an absolutely perfect spot! This home had an old southern charm, with modern neutral decor throughout. I decided I want to move there when I grow up.

And before you see the pictures, a huge thank you goes out to Eddie Marroquin for shooting with me! I can’t take all the credit – some of these images are his.

This was a first for me – a mini bride! Her dress was custom made to match the look of Brandie’s!

Brandie & Parker, you were both so wonderful to work with! Thank you for trusting me such an important part of your wedding day!

I love this. I love that Megan and Michael’s relationship is not only sweet, but full of personality! Megan and Michael are a perfect fit. Together they make a fun, funky, generous, kind, committed, and laid back pair! Megan was one of the easiest brides I’ve worked with.

Megan and Michael both come from Irish heritage, and they got married on St. Patrick’s Day! Here are some of my favorite shots from their wedding at Southern Oaks!

Their vows were so personal and sweet! I looked around and everywhere there were tears being wiped.

“Michael is unlike any one I have ever met, he is extremely chivalrous, generous, humors, sweet, intelligent and affectionate. I love him for his charming and sweet attitude, his unconditional love and passionate personality. He is an extremely generous soul always looking out for others never himself. I love his country drawl and laid back demeanor. Sometimes I jokingly tell him, “You’re my Xanax,” meaning he can always can calm me down and help me relax when I’m mad or stressed. I always feel safe in his arms and know that he will always protect me. I love that he is a sports fanatic and is athletic. I love his sense of humor and goofy demeanor. I love his self discipline and work ethic. I love his affectionate and loving relationship he shares has with his family and God. I love his Irish heritage and I love that if he spends more than 10 minutes in the sun he will burn and then peel a week later. I love that he can always make me laugh at a drop of a hat. I love his butt and his blue eyes and his blonde hair. I love that we can fart around each other and always laugh about it. I love the way he looks at me and the way he kisses me and the way he hugs me and most importantly the way he loves me.”

“I love that he wants to share his life with me and I love that he wants to have babies with me and I love that he wants to grow old and arthritic with me. Michael is my heart my soul my everything and without him I could not exist, I literally cannot ever imagine life with him.”

It was really important to Matt to have a picture at the location where it all began. Matt would look out his apartment window, and see Jessie out on her balcony. It was his awesome pool cheerleading moves that got her attention, and then later her heart!

Jessie and Matt, it was fun hanging out with y’all! I’m looking forward to your wedding in October!

A few years ago I purchased a small pack of this delicious confectionary treat. Six. Six eggs for me to enjoy over time. I enjoyed the first. It was bliss. Just like I remembered it. Several days later I had another.

(Yes, I like to ration things. If there is ever a famine, give me the food and I’ll have everything perfectly distributed so everyone lives.)

Then I came back to my freezer stash about a week later – in horror – to find that the rest of the eggs had been eaten. NOOOOO. Easter was over! I couldn’t just go buy more! I’m pretty sure this is one of those stories that my husband will never hear the end of.

This year, I went all out. Thirty-eight ounces of goodness. Hiding Easter eggs takes on a whole new meaning now.

Jenn and Ben have both stood in other weddings I’ve shot over the past few years. In some ways it kind of felt like I photographed their wedding in another life – so many familiar faces! Things came together perfectly, despite the rainy afternoon. The wedding took place at the church where Jenn grew up – First United Methodist Church, and the reception was at the Camelot Club in Baton Rouge. We were able to dodge the rain when we needed to, and were still able to do some portraits outside!

Ben’s Mom – an art teacher – painted this whimsical newlywed scene for them, which includes their first home together!

I love this moment! Jenn’s dad had just stepped into the room to look at his daughter dressed as a beautiful bride!

Jenn’s dress was so elegant. The lace around the neck was added by a friend – a perfect touch to the dress!

And these were absolutely the best smelling flowers I have ever been around. So wonderfully fragrant!

Once the ceremony had started, we were only allowed to shoot from the balcony. Luckily it wrapped around the sides of the church, so we were still able to get some great shots from up there!

Instead of a bouquet toss, they had a married couple dance. As the music played, those who had been married the shortest amount of time left the dance floor. This sweet couple remained, and shared some advice with the newlyweds!

And then the truth came out. Michael is really a Buccaneers fan.

As the sun was quickly dropping on this cloudy day, we headed away from the crowds and into a deserted area of City Park to wrap things up.

Megan and Michael are getting married in just a couple of weeks, so you’ll be seeing more of them soon!

God did some pretty awesome things when he made Lindsey and Sylvester. He made them absolutely perfect for each other. So much so, that when Lindsey was telling me about Sylvesters interest in her a few years ago, I cried as I told her how wonderful this was. Yes – I was completely convinced that this was pretty much the best thing ever for her. I looked forward in faith knowing that these two could have a life changing relationship! It took a few years of Sylvester’s pursuit and friendship before Lindsey was convinced. Thankfully, Sylvester just waited for her. He needed no convincing.

Finally their wedding day was here! A beautiful November day in New Orleans.

And sometimes the bridesmaid/photographer became a seamstress as well.

I absolutely love it when a couple decides to do a first look! In this case, because I was a bit more involved in the planning than I am with a regular client, we made sure that we planned time to do portraits in City park when the lighting was perfect.  It was absolutely lovely and golden – perfect for a first look. And why do I love first looks so much? I find that you get true expressions that you don’t see during all the pressure of the bridal procession. There is time for the couple to be themselves, talk, and get all the nerves out of the way.

Lindsey was so excited to have old friends from the band Mosaic lead worship for her wedding! Again – thanks to Kaylynn for covering all of the ceremony for me!

A friend made this art for them, representing the places they grew up. Sylvester is all the way from Uganda. And yes, he has one of the best accents ever!
